Day 2 Back on track.

Well, managed to get to class on Thursday morning. There was a special offer at the moment where if you had a smart card and the current books, the joining fee was only €10 as opposed to €20. Thankfully I had my smart card and books! It was nice to see the familiar face of my leader, and even nicer that she recognised me. I did weigh slightly heavier than when I did last year, but her reply to the number on the scales... "We won't say you're up or down, this is a fresh start so we'll start from here...". It reminds me of one of the posters on the wall - "It's not a sin to fall, but it is if you stay down". This time I'm NOT staying down.

The class itself was interesting, and it was nice not to be the only guy there. There were 2 others! I'm so used to going to meetings where I am the only guy. The leader also gave out free samples of Linwoods hemp, flaxseed, and others. I tried the hemp today on my cereal and on a salad and it was nice. I ran out and bought a full packet. This time I picked up the flax, sunflower, pumpkin & sesame seeds & goji berries mix. I'll be trying it once my samples are gone. The samples were 25g packs and were approx P2 per pack.

I've a few things organised for lunches next week. Now that I'm off shift-work it's a bit easier to plan meals and other activities. I'll actually have time for a life now! I must admit that the hours can be a bit long, and by the time my work day finished I'm shattered. So much so that I found myself dozing in front of the TV last week watching the 6pm news. I'm hoping that once the days get brighter that will sort itself. I'm hoping to invest in a halogen oven on Sunday. I think it'll be handy for the cooking for one and also doing my WW ready meals. I'm also going to use the freezer more and the slow cooker too!

I picked up a copy of the new Irresistible magazine from WW. I'm reading through it to get some recipe ideas. The plan is to get 10 good recipes that hopefully the whole family will love. Then rotate these and go to the shops armed with 5 of them to get the ingredients. It should hopefully cut out all the impulse buys, or going to get something and forgetting it.

Well, time to hit the sack. Aiming to get up early for some Wii Fit and making porridge for breakfast.

Another day over

Yesterday seemed to fly. Got my VPN sorted so now I can work from home. Excellent stuff as that means I won't have to go into the office on Sunday now. Did a little extra work last night, but feeling a little shattered this morning.

Can't wait for the day to finish. Heading out to dinner with work colleagues tonight and then re-joining a class tomorrow to find out the bad news. I've read some very inspirational posts on the WW boards, so I'm going to give it a good shot and aim for goal.

Another new year

Wow, where did 2009 go to? It seemed to fly by, or maybe as I get older the years go quicker too.
2009 marked the 10th anniversary of my first going to Weight Watchers, and unfortunately I weigh heavier now than I did then! If only I could discipline myself to stick to plan. Well, come Thursday I'm going back to classes and hopefully I'll stick to it this time. Things have come a long way since 123 Success 2000.

A new year and new beginnings. I've started a new job in work so thankfully shift work is no more. I won't be sad to see the back of the nights. I'll be doing a 4 day week, so 3 days off is good :) This time last year I was off sick from work after the bike crash. 2008 saw the last of the bike - goodbye your Majesty. While it was cheap to run tax-wise and petrol-wise, there just was no protection. I'm pretty much fully recovered apart from an area on my arm that has a bit of nerve damage.

Recently we got a HUGE chest freezer so the plan is to bulk cook and freeze, which just wasn't possible before with the limited freezer room. Soups and sauces here I come! I'm also determined to make more use of the slow cooker. I read recently to make a list of 10 good recipes, and when you go shopping to bring 5 with you to shop for ingredients. I think it's something I'm going to try for the next few weeks to see how it goes.

Thursday is looming. Return to classes should be good though. I've also a work dinner to attend on Wednesday. I'm going to try and make wise food choices. My only problem is I'm a finicky eater. I'm not a great meat eater, don't like anything on the bone. Hopefully there will be a good choice :)

Monday, July 6, 2009

My fellow Musketeer, BKM, sent over the wagon today so I can jump back on. Need to make sure I'm in securely and may use the super glue this time.

I can't believe it's July already. My cousins wedding is at the end of the month. I've ordered my clothes. Also there's a work BBQ the night before. It should be an enjoyable time spent with my family.

I've started using EA Sports Active for the Wii. OMG were my arms/thighs sore after the first 2 days. Unfortunately things have been so hectic I haven't had a chance to get on it again, but I'll get on it again soon, I promise! Other than that, nothing strange to report. My aim for today is to stay within points and get some form of exercise.

Bank Holiday Weekend

Well it's finally here, the bank holiday weekend, and it's a scorcher! Summer definitely took it's time this year. Had a bit of bad news on Thursday, which didn't help my mood for the weekend. I ended up taking some 'personal time' from work to sort things out in my head. Starting to get there. Fortunately I have the support of a wonderful OH, who came down to visit for the weekend to help me through it.

So... The plan for today is to go for a walk later and rack up a few BPs. Made a lovely salad for lunch and to be honest with the hot weather (and other things) I haven't been really hungry, so plenty of points left for the day. I'm making a bit of progress towards getting back to where I was and am nearing the 5% mark again. This time I'll be continuing towards 10% and onwards to goal.

Not yet looked for an outfit for my cousin's wedding in August. I'm waiting a bit longer to see how much more weight I can shift.

Heineken Cup

Had a wonderful weekend in Edinburgh for the Heineken Cup final (and Leinster won!!). Unfortunately WW went out the window while I was away. Had a SP on Sunday when I returned to see a 3lbs gain, but luckily by WI today I'd a .75lb loss.

The weather is finally starting to brighten up, and today feels like the first day of Summer. Had physio this morning (arm still hurts, so hoping that'll wear off soon), and then a visit to the Chiropodist this evening. Bit of an incident on the buses in Scotland aggravated my ingrown toenail.

Was a bit lazy last week and didn't cycle to work, but now the weather's a bit better I've no excuse, so tomorrow it's back on the bike. I'll just think of the BP's.

Bank holiday this weekend. but I'm working - so won't be falling into temptation much. I'll be off on Monday and Tuesday so planning on some batch cooking.

Post Valentine's

Seem to have gone off the rails a bit after Valentine's weekend. It started with the takeaway and just escalated from there. Weighed in yesterday, hoping for a STS after the disaster that was my week. Jumped onto the scales and lost 4 lbs! Now that was a shock to the system. So got my silver 7 to reach the 1 stone mark, and also got 5%. Yay me!

Unfortunately it lead to a celebration - the wrong kind. Pancakes! In preparation for next week I made a batch, with maple syrup. OMG they were to die for. I totally enjoyed them. Got up today determined to stay on track and raided anything that wasn't tied down.

On the bright side, I did cycle to work tonight. Thighs are feeling the burn a bit, but I felt pleased I actually did it. Will be cycling for the weekend and hopefully that will wipe the slate clean. It's approx 25 mins each way.
